Sugoi’s RS Zeros are made using Sugoi’s Firewall fabric, a softshell material with a laminated polyurethane layer to keep the rain at bay and transport sweat out to the air. It’s very similar in intent and construction to Gore-Tex Windstopper Soft Shell, and it’s also treated with a water-repellent layer that forces water to bead and roll off.

The 10-panel construction, all with flatlocked seams, makes for a superbly comfortable fit, even though the fabric isn’t as stretchy as the usual Roubaix stuff.

The integrated foot loops are the neatest and lowest profile that we’ve encountered, with no intrusive seams or awkward pulling. A short front zip helps you get in – the RS Zero is quite snug around the torso. Inside there’s a notably thick Formula FX pad.

The pad’s comfort potential is clear, but the thicker they are the better they must be shaped to avoid creasing or bunching. No such issues here: it’s superbly comfortable for days in the saddle.
