DHB’s Perpetual trousers are new for 2011 and designed with durability in mind. They can be a little fiddly to put on in a hurry because the double Velcro tabs pass over the leg zips, meaning there’s a lot of stuff to undo before your feet will fit through.
Once you’re in, though, DHB has thoughtfully included a generous length of Velcro so you can pull the legs in as much as you like.
There’s also a Velcro fly and popper, which is easy to deal with even while wearing gloves, but there’s no waist adjustment. Elsewhere, pockets with welded waterproof zips feature on each side.
Build-wise, the Perpetuals are robustly constructed, with heftier fabric at the seat, knees and inside of the legs. They also proved a match for heavy rain but – as is true of all the trousers here – you’ll get some condensation inside.
The road mender colour scheme here will find favour with commuters, but trail riders will probably be glad to hear the Perpetual pants are also available in plain black, although they do still retain plenty of reflective piping.
