Diatech Anchor Sport | £74.99
BikeRadar verdict
"Heavy but impressively heat resistant and durable for the money"
The cheap and cheerful looks hide impressively heat-resistant performance. It's not the most powerful unit - max torque with a 180mm rotor is similar to most 160mm rotor brakes - but the feel is consistent and controllable.
It started to fade two thirds of the way through the first dyno test but never boiled. It eventually seized in a shower of burning brake pad at a disc temperature of 680 degrees Celsius and a calliper temp of 200. Certainly Alp-proof and probably safe for re-entry from space!
The brake isn't light or sleek, but the split lever clamp and slotted post mount design make it easy to fit, and it comes fully bled and ready to go. We've had years of trouble-free use from this model brake, and pad life is good too.
