BikeRadar score 4/5

This intriguing web pattern unpadded shell was the star of the Tioga website holding page for a while, so we were intrigued to finally park our arses on it.

You're probably expecting us to say that the plastic shell is just an uncomfortable gimmick, but our initial cynicism rapidly evaporated as we realised that the flexible shell and hollow rails really do cushion trail impacts and support your shorts perfectly well. There's an initial hardness from the bare shell, but otherwise it's as comfy as most thinly padded 200g race seats and a lot more forgiving than the carbon shells it weighs the same as. As you'd expect, it's a really cool saddle too, which will come into its own in summer - although you'll know about it if you charge through icy puddles. You need to watch the sharp edges don't savage you when jumping on or off, and the hard plastic and flat profile make it a slippery saddle in general. At this weight for this money it's potentially an excellent race choice, though.
