WTB Rocket V Race saddle review£30.00

Steve Peat’s seat of choice

BikeRadar score3.5/5

The Race is the budget version of WTB's Rocket V saddle, with chromoly rails that keep the price down at the expense of weight. It's not a bad trade-off, given that you get the popular Rocket V shape, the Comfort Zone cutaway shell and a pressure-relieving channel along the top.

The Rocket is a well-regarded saddle, although the shape's a bit love/hate – you're either a WTB person or you're not. It's quite short overall and distinctly flat across the back with squared-off corners. That won't suit all backsides, but the cutaways, channel and padding work well together.

The synthetic cover features grip-enhancing embroidered sections and reinforced corners to ward off trail grazes. If you get on with the Rocket shape but want to go posh, various spendier versions are available, up to the £89.99, 215g Rocket V SLT.
