Michelin Krylion Carbon road tyre review
BikeRadar verdict
"The benchmark for fast, tough training tyres. Excellent mileage adds value"
Shopping partners
The Krylion Carbon is faster than any tyre tougher than it, and tougher than any tyre faster than it. The casing is nice and supple, despite bead-to-bead protection and a synthetic belt under the tread. This protection isn’t impregnable but it’s effective: we’ve picked up two punctures in well over 3000 miles on our current pair.
The carbon-black reinforced rubber feels harder than many rivals, granting excellent wear life. Hardness trades off against ‘feel’ and ‘cornering security’, though we’ve never even come close to losing it on wet roads.

i use these as a winter training tyre in the 700 x 25 runat 95-100 psi get a bit of comfort and great grip, and the puncture fairy really struggles to make an impression on them, great all round tyres

@Pseudonym: That's not water, it's drool. The wheel was fitted to a "halo" bike.

What's up with the stupidly long valve?

Excellent tyres, a couple of thousand miles on mine and no problems at all.
Isn't in true that Michelin are discontinuing the Krylion Carbon tyres though?

The best winter tyres I have used. The puncture resistant is excellent and they are pretty fast. Great value too as they last for ever. Good enough for summer usage really, although I do tend to use MIchelin Pro Race 3s in the summer.

They are discontinuing many of the top line tires including this one, but they are planning an all new model within the Pro 4 line called Pro 4 Endurance. You can see details on their website here: www.michelinbicycletire.com/michelinbicycle/index.cfm?event=roadracing.view

The Pro Optimum(rear) is a better rear tire than the Krylion is. It just does everything better, and NO, it slips through the wind just as well as any 23mm tire. (the rear wheel is so far past a clean airflow it's pretty much impossible to help no matter what you do)
