Giro Atmos review£100.00

Still excellent - now cheaper!

Just over a year ago, the Atmos was Giro's top of the range road helmet. It has since been displaced by the Ionos, but the 2008 Atmos remains unchanged in all but price. It's now £25 cheaper than when it was first launched.

Lance Armstrong sported this helmet, and the in-mould dual-composite technology – with softer EPS inner and harder carbon outer reinforcement – is still one of the best the industry has to offer.

This results in a very light shell at 295g for the small size on test, but it also allows for more venting – which means a less sweaty head.

In fact it's so well vented that you might need to wear a skull-cap, hat or bandanna under it on chillier days.

Head and helmet shapes are always personal, but the Atmos accommodates better than most with the Roc Loc 4 system, which allows quick one-handed adjustment, ensuring possibly the most secure and comfortable fit we have tested.
