Sixsixone Kyle Strait Knee Guard
BikeRadar verdict
"Not cheap but fantastic pedal-friendly knee protection"
Everyone raved about these, even XC guides who just used them in winter for warmth.
The removable patella plate and thick neoprene padding give superb joint protection. They're super mobile for uninterrupted pedalling and the twin straps give good security, even if you end up on your hands and knees at speed. Your knees will get sweaty if you don't wash them regularly and obviously you'll need shin guards if you want lower leg protection. They're not cheap either, but we can definitely see why everyone likes them.

I just registered with this site specifically so i could recommend these pads - really comfy and they're sure not going anywhere once they're on. i'd make sure you can try them on somewhere before you buy as they're quite tight but that just means they don't bunch up.
having said that, i too would love to know how you're meant to remove the plates...

I decided to wear knee pads as I have dodgy knees from a motorbike accident, the Kyle Straits are impressively comfy to wear & keep my knees warm when its cold. Can anyone help & tell me how to wash them as there are no wash instructions, I'd hate to ruin them in the washing machine.

Just been onto 661 UK,apparently the packaging and item decription is for the Evo pad,YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE KNEECUP,which is a bit of a bugger if you purchased them like me on the premise you could, bad mistake by 661.However they are still a quality kneepad,I purchased mine from e-bay for £29.99,a bit of good news is you can bung them in the washer on a cool wash(30 degrees) and they will be fine, hope this helps.
