Mountain Biking UK magazine celebrates 25th anniversary

Win a dream bike with MBUK and Chain Reaction Cycles

Mountain Biking UK - the UK’s best selling off-road bike magazine and sister title to BikeRadar - goes on sale today, marking a 25th anniversary in the process.

To celebrate the occasion, the team behind MBUK have put together a special collector’s package that features a huge 225-page issue of the magazine and a free 68-page guide to the 100 best bits of bike bling ever.

Plus, they’ve teamed up with Chain Reaction Cycles to build a dream bike worth more than £4,200 – based largely on input from the readers – which they’re giving away in the issue. The bike is based around Nukeproof’s Mega TR frame, and was chosen by the team after they asked their and CRC’s social media followers for ideas.

“If it wasn’t for our readers we wouldn’t still be going strong after 25 years,” says editor-in-chief Danny Walter. “So we wanted to show our appreciation by getting them involved in the build of a bike they can win. With Facebook and Twitter being such a big part of the modern MBUK brand, it was the perfect way to do it.”

During the month of April, followers of MBUK suggested component parts for the dream bike, from frame to fork, saddle to stem, and you can see how the build came together at the CRC warehouse in the timelapse video below. For your chance to enter the competition, you need to buy issue 291 of MBUK, where you’ll get all the details.

The 25th issue also features a look at how the bikes we ride and the technology behind them has changed since 1988, when the first issue went on sale. There are interviews with mountain bike legends Steve Peat, Martyn Ashton, Rob Warner and Will Longden, to see how the pro scene has moved on in that time, as well as the familiar expert testing and ride advice.

And in the free ‘100 most amazing bits of bike bling ever!’ guide, reader’s can get lost in a world of old and new bike porn and tick off what they’ve owned, currently own and want to own!

Mountain Biking UK’s 25th anniversary Issue 291 is on sale now at all good newsagents and on Apple Newsstand and Zinio. You can download the very first issue for free on iTunes.
