Torq Kona team dominate 2009 Bristol Bikefest

By BikeRadar

Almost 2,000 riders hit the rain-soaked course at this weekend’s (6-7 June) Kona Bristol Bikefest.

The 12-hour event on Saturday started in wet conditions but the trails at Ashton Court dried with every lap and the 1,500 riders relished the challenge.

The solo categories were a strongly-fought affair, with Torq Kona rider James Lister winning with 20 laps (which would have placed him in the top 10 of the open male team category). The women’s open solo category was won by Rickie Cotter from Genesis Bikes/Cytek.

The open pair category was won by Team My Life Personal, with Team Red Planet Bikes victorious in the women’s race. Team Crunch won the male old git pair category, and the singlespeed team prizes went to LVIS Singlespeed Superstars and The Bike Mechanics.co.uk.

Bad Ass Bikes topped the podium in the open team category, while Torq Kona won the women’s event. For Goodness Shakes won the male old git category, with Team Purple Bikeshed taking the women’s title.

Sunday’s six-hour event attracted more riders than last year’s event, with more than 500 participants.

Torq Kona took the win in the competitive male team category, while the Beyond 925 Ladies team won the women’s open category.

Team Mountain Trax Yeti Torq bagged the male pair category win and the female pair title was won by team Torq Kona. The solo categories were won by Danny Goode and Fi Spotwood.
