Will Longden wins latest NPS 4X

By BikeRadar

Team BikeRadar’s Will Longden has just enjoyed a highly successful weekend at Round 2 of the NPS national 4X championship at the Edge Activity Centre near Bridgnorth in Shropshire. Will won every one of his heat races, followed by every one of the elimination rounds on the road to the Elite men's final.

In fact, the only rider to briefly pass him all day, was Scott Beaumont (Rocky Mountain) going into the first turn in the quarter-final. Will calmly waited for the last berm and rode back past him on the inside to take another win.

In the final Will surged ahead down the first straight and never looked back, crossing the line with enough time to see Steve Taylor and Scott Beaumont fighting it out for second place.

After his weekend’s clean sweep Will said: “I’ve been training hard leading up to the first few World Cups and the World Champs next month and this  was a boost to my confidence. I felt strong out the gate and pedalling out the corners and this helped me to get out front and stay there.  It feels good to be back on form and I’m really looking forward to Andorra World Cup in two weeks’ time.”

  • Well done Will on winning the NPS round. Would be good to see a report on the National Champs the next day. Probably the best race I have seen in years! Will got pipped on the line by Scott Beamont with Lewis Lacey in 3rd place.
