Emma Way, the driver who boasted on Twitter about knocking a cyclist off his bike has been found guilty of two charges relating to the incident – but acquitted of driving without due care and attention.
Norwich magistrates convicted Way of failing to stop after an accident and failing to report the incident. She was fined £337, was given seven points on her licence and ordered to pay £300 court costs, reports the BBC.
The 22-year-old clipped Toby Hockley who was riding the Boudicca sportive, sending him into the hedge. The incident happened near Rockland All Saints, 20 miles west of Norwich. Later she tweeted "Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier – I have right of way he doesn’t even pay road tax! #bloodycyclists". She later deleted her Twitter account.
In interviews with the BBC and ITV shortly after the incident Way, from Watton, said she regretted the 'spur of the moment' tweet.
The court also heard that Way had lost her job as a trainee accountant with Larking Gowen.
