Eurobike 2010: Nukeproof Scalp, Snap and Mega first look

By Matthew Cole | Wednesday, September 1, 2010 11.10am

Nukeproof were showing off their new range of mountain bike frames at the 2010 Eurobike trade show including the Snap four-cross hardtail, Mega enduro full-susser and Scalp downhill machine.

Scalp

Starting with the biggest hitter, the £1,500 Scalp frame has been in development for the past 18 months and is almost ready to go. Nukeproof say they still want to shave some weight off the prototype to hit their target of 10lb.

Named after Northern Ireland’s infamous Moneyscalp downhill track, it's built from 6061 aluminium and is going to come with a RockShox Vivid 5.1 shock as standard, with a Cane Creek upgrade as an option. Sizes S/M or M/L will be available in raw, yellow or black finishes – price to be confirmed.

We expect the Scalp to be raced on the World Cup circuit next season, so keep an eye on BikeRadar for announcements on a team.

Mega

The full-suspension Mega is being touted as an enduro bike, with 6in of travel front and rear. It's a versatile machine thanks to a 44mm head tube that'll take tapered, regular or 1.5in forks, plus DMR’s Swopout dropout system out back, which allows you to run a Maxle through-axle or standard quick-release skewer.

A custom-tuned RockShox Monarch 4.2 rear shock comes as standard on this £1,000 frame, which should be available in February 2011.

Snap

Nukeproof’s Snap frame has been ridden by the team’s pro four-cross rider, Lukas Mechura, for some time now, and with production models expected around November, you can have a slice of the action for £399 (approx, TBC).

It uses a 44mm head tube for a variety of fork sizes, a Maxle out the back for improved stiffness and is available in raw, black or yellow finishes.
