BikeRadar is pleased to announce that Josh Patterson, former editor of Dirt Rag Magazine, joined the BikeRadar US team today as technical writer.
Patterson holds a master’s degree in journalism, and he grew up working in bike shops – a perfect combination for all the riders coming to BikeRadar for practical advice on bikes and gear.
Patterson will be moving with his wife to Colorado to join the BikeRadar US staff of James Huang and Ben Delaney.
“Josh understands all the complexities of the bicycle and can clearly explain the pros and cons of any set-up to any level of rider,” said Delaney, editor in chief of BikeRadar US. “He can easily distinguish hype from substance, and his enthusiasm for riding bikes is contagious. We’re lucky to have him.”
Before his years at the helm of Dirt Rag, Patterson helped launch Cyclocross Magazine.
“As a competitor, I respected BikeRadar for their honest, in-depth articles and product reviews,” Patterson said. “As a member of the BikeRadar US team I look forward to using my technical experience and passion for cycling to inform and inspire our readers.”
Last month more than 2.65 million readers enjoyed BikeRadar content, with more than 29.7 million pageviews, according to Comscore. BikeRadar now has a dedicated homepage for North American readers at BikeRadar.com/US.
Patterson will be working closely with technical editor Huang, who has spent more than 10 years reporting on bikes and gear around the world. With a master’s degree in materials science and a critical eye for detail, Huang is routinely sought out by bike industry veterans as well as everyday riders for his expert opinion.
At BikeRadar’s UK headquarters, global editor in chief Jeff Jones leads an experienced team of gear experts, including Warren Rossiter (road) and former pro downhill racer Robin Weaver (mountain bike), alongside Robin Wilmott (road), John Whitney (road) and Guy Kesteven (anything with two wheels), among others.
Before founding BikeRadar with Future Publishing in 2007, Jones spent seven years as the editor of Cyclingnews, living in Australia and Belgium. Jones is the former 12-hour time trial world record holder (305.5 miles), and has won five World Press Cycling Championship titles.
