The 2013 Marie Curie Cancer Care Etape Caledonia and Etape Pennines closed road cyclosportives are open for entry.

The sportives, which are part of the IMG Challenger World events, are expected to sell out quickly as demand for places is high. Over 7000 riders have registered interest for the Etape Caledonia, which has 5000 places available, while 1000 have done the same for the Etape Pennines, which has 3000 spots.

The 81 mile Etape Caledonia based in Perthshire, Scotland is in its seventh year. It's overcome early problems with local saboteurs to become one of the UK's most desirable sportives. Next year's event takes place on 12 May 2013.

The Etape Pennines was run for the first time this year and will take place on 6 October in 2013. It's tougher than its Scottish brother with over 2000 metres of climbing on a challenging 78 mile course in County Durham.

Entry fees are £63 for both events - keep an eye on etapecaledonia.co.uk and etapepennines.co.uk for full information.
