Ventoux: The Witches' Cauldron - video

Second part of our film series on the most iconic climbs of the Tour de France

There aren't many landscapes that strike fear into the heart of cyclists quite as Ventoux does.

It's a brute of a mountain, rising to nearly 2km above the Rhone Basin, its foreboding tower piercing the sky.

That sense of menace is reflected in part two of BikeRadar's trilogy of films, The Most Iconic Climbs of the Tour de France, as voted for by you, the BikeRadar readers, and made in association with Oakley. The first in the series focussed on Alpe d'Huez, and this second film showcases the lunar landscape of Ventoux – The Witches' Cauldron.

Be warned, this is not a film for the faint-hearted.

The film is scripted by respected cycling journalist Daniel Friebe, with voiceover by Olivier-nominated actor Tony Haygarth and an original music score written by musician and music producer Thom Thomas-Watkins.

Look out for the final film next Friday, or subscribe to the BikeRadar You Tube channel. If you can't wait for the next video, have a watch of the teaser video for all three climbs. You can also check out some behind-the-scenes shots in the gallery above.

BikeRadar would like to thank all of the above as well as voiceover sound engineer Rob Wills for their invaluable contributions.
