You can now buy Canyon bikes on Amazon – here's everything you need to know

We explain the pros and cons of buying a Canyon bike from Amazon and what's available

Canyon now sell bikes on Amazon US. This is big news because the German brand's appeal lies, in part, in its direct-to-consumer business model.

Selling its bikes directly bypasses the middleman (third-party retailers such as bike shops).

However, you can now buy a selection of Canyon bikes on Amazon US, which is convenient if you're already an Amazon shopper or want to make use of Amazon's Prime delivery.

Which bikes can you buy on Amazon?

Canyon’s Amazon US shop includes trail, electric and hybrid bikes.

Canyon’s offerings on Amazon and its own website differ quite significantly. On Amazon, Canyon is now selling a more affordable range of bikes, including trail, electric and urban bikes, while higher-end options are exclusive to its own online store.

    What's missing on Amazon?

    2024 Canyon Aeroad
Canyon's Amazon US store doesn't include race bikes, such as the Aeroad. Canyon

Amazon focuses on entry-level to mid-range bikes, especially in the trail, urban and ebike categories.

To summarise, here’s what’s exclusive to Canyon:

    • Road: Aeroad, Ultimate, Endurace, Speedmax, Inflite
    • Gravel: Grizl, high-end Grail variants
    • Mountain bikes: Neuron, Lux Trail, Sender, Torque DH
    • Electric mountain bikes: Spectral:ONfly, Neuron:ONfly
    • Youth: Grand Canyon Young Hero, Neuron Young Hero
    • Specialty: Downhill, XC race, triathlon, cyclocross

What sizes, specs and colours are available from Amazon vs Canyon?

There is some disparity between Amazon and Canyon when it comes to availability of certain sizes, specs and colours.

    What Amazon offers

    • You’ll find a limited range of sizes for models, ranging from S to XL.
    • It only deals in fixed builds.
    • Most models only come in one or two standard colours.
    • There is no customisation.

    What Canyon offers

    • Sizes ranging from 3XS to 2XL, depending on model.
    • Multiple spec options for models.
    • A wide range of colours, including exclusive hues.
    • Customisation available on select models.

How do warranties, returns and servicing work?

Canyon and Amazon each offer a six-year warranty.

    Warranties

With Amazon, there is a six-year warranty in place and you can add optional extras such as a ‘2-Year Protection Plan’ for $129.99, or an Amazon ‘Complete Protect’ subscription for $16.99 a month.

Canyon offers both a six-year guarantee and a two-year warranty. It’s quite confusing, but bear with us as we break it down for you.

    Amazon

    • Offers a six-year warranty on Canyon-engineered components. All other components follow its own manufacturer’s warranties.
    • Opt for the 2-Year Protection Plan and it will cover you for defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
    • Subscribe to Complete Protect and it’ll cover you for accidental damage, breakdown or theft for a certain number of years and across products – not just your new Canyon bike.

    Canyon

    • The same six-year warranty – Canyon calls it a guarantee, confusingly – as Amazon remains in place.
    • Canyon also offers a two-year warranty on Canyon-engineered components. All other components are covered for a minimum of two years, unless stated otherwise.
    • The warranty is linked to the bike, not the owner. If you buy a bike second-hand and it’s less than two years old, you can still make a claim.
    • Canyon will cover rebuilding, shipping and customs charges for successful warranty claims.
    • Batteries in ebikes are covered by the two-year warranty. Under the six-year guarantee, they are only covered for two years or 500 charging cycles.

    Quick summary

Amazon offers a six-year warranty that’s the same as Canyon’s six-year guarantee. Optional warranties are nice, but they come at extra cost.

Canyon’s two-year warranty comes as standard, which provides coverage against material and processing defects.

    Returns

    Amazon

    • Amazon offers 30-day free returns for a full refund or replacement, so long as the products haven’t been altered or used in any way.
    • To initiate a refund, you need to find the bike you’d ordered within your account and follow the instructions.
    • Most refunds are fulfilled in 3-5 days.

    Canyon

    • Canyon offers 30-day returns, so long as the products you’ve bought are in original condition.
    • To initiate a return, you log in and locate your order, then follow the instructions.
    • You’ll be refunded for the cost of the bike, but not shipping costs.
    • There are no exchanges. You’ll need to return the item before ordering a new one.
    • For ebikes, Canyon arranges collection with a third-party partner such as DHL Freight.
    • Refunds can take 2-5 days.

    Support Channels

If you buy from Amazon, you’ll receive its generalised customer support for large items. It’s unclear whether you’ll be directed to Canyon for specific claims such as warranty, guarantee, or anything else. The level of support is, largely, up in the air here.

Buy directly from Canyon and you’ll have a much clearer, more direct support experience – whether that’s warranty claims, bike assembly or service repairs.

Amazon vs direct from Canyon: what's the difference?

    Buying from Amazon

    Range and Pricing

As we’ve mentioned in the section above, if you buy from Amazon you’ll have more limited options when it comes to specs and configurability.

Pricing is generally cheaper across the board, given the more budget-oriented nature of their offerings on Amazon. However, it’s worth noting that some models aren’t necessarily cheaper. At the time of writing, the Roadlite CF 8 is around $100 more expensive than from Canyon.

    Delivery and Setup

If you have Amazon Prime, you can benefit from one-day Prime delivery on many of its bikes. Sadly, there is no confirmation of Canyon’s Bike Guard box being used upon delivery.

You can choose to get each bike delivered with or without expert assembly. Expert assembly costs $139.99 and a 'third-party' service provider will assemble your bike for you and ensure it’s all good to go.

Setup videos aren’t available on some Amazon pages, although you can search for them specifically on Canyon’s site.

    Buying from Canyon

    Range and Pricing

Buy from Canyon and you’ll have many more options available to you specs and configurability-wise.

For the models that both Amazon and Canyon stock, sometimes Canyon is cheaper – but it depends. Otherwise, expect higher prices for the models exclusive to Canyon given its higher-end credentials.

    Delivery and Setup

Canyon doesn’t offer the speediness of Amazon Prime’s one-day delivery, with standard delivery times dependent on the delivery partner you’ve selected.

Besides standard delivery, Canyon offers three other services:

    • New Bike Day is the most premium and is, essentially, a visit to Canyon’s headquarters and a consultation with a bike expert as it sets up your new bike for you.
    • Velofix DIRECT means your bike will be delivered directly to your home, then assembled by a technician.
    • Collect & Ride sees your new bike delivered to a local bike shop, where it will be assembled by someone there.

Each bike has its own setup video on the website.

You’re also guaranteed that each bike is delivered with Canyon's Bike Guard protective packaging free of charge.

Will Canyon bikes be sold on Amazon UK or elsewhere?

There are currently no plans to launch Canyon on third-party sites in Europe.

For now, Canyon has no plans to expand its Amazon or third-party options into the European market.

In the UK, Canyon recently opened two ‘Customer Experience Locations’ in London and Sheffield. These stores follow four in Europe, with Canyon hoping to expand this number to 15 in 2025 across Europe and the US.

If Canyon decides to expand into the UK market, it makes for a nice entry point into the brand, especially for those who enjoy cycling but aren’t necessarily enthusiasts.

The ability to order from Amazon and benefit from Prime’s speedy delivery is a plus for broader audiences, too.

Why is Canyon selling on Amazon US?

It’s clear that Canyon wants to reach a broader audience by selling its range on Amazon. It could also be an easier way of selling older inventory to people who are on more of a budget.

Could it be Canyon adapting to market pressures? Potentially, yes. Partnering with Amazon’s speedy shipping capabilities and broader audience enables it to shift bikes with greater ease and, ultimately, make more money.

Bottom line: should you buy a Canyon bike on Amazon?

In summary, yes. But you do sacrifice clarity of support and greater configurability in favour of a hassle-free, speedy buying process. For budget-oriented cyclists or those who do almost all their shopping on Amazon, it’s a convenient option.

Here’s a quick round-up of pros and cons of buying through Amazon

        Pros

        • If you’re a Prime member, you can benefit from one-day delivery.
        • There are plenty of entry-level and mid-range bikes available.
        • Less configuration and fewer spec options make the buying process less intimidating.

        Cons

        • There is far less choice when it comes to sizes, specs, colours and configurability.
        • Some prices aren’t necessarily cheaper on Amazon.
        • Assembly videos aren’t always on the product page, so you’ll have to search for them on Canyon’s website.
        • You need to purchase a two-year warranty as an extra, while Canyon offers it for free.
        • Customer service channels might get muddled between Amazon and Canyon.
        • It’s unclear whether bikes are delivered with Canyon’s Bike Guard protective packaging.
