BMC was formed in 1994 in Grenchen, Canton Solothurn. An area preoccupied with watch-making precision, BMC's desire to create premium quality, performance orientated bikes with obsessive attention to detail suited the town perfectly. In 2000, BMC took a step up with new owner Andy Rihs developing the brand's own carbon production facility with the aim of creating the 'Porsche of race bikes'. This evolution also saw the founding of BMC's Impec Advanced R&D Lab.
