Atherton Bikes has gone full mini mullet with this custom S.200 build, proving 26in wheels well and truly still have a place in modern-day mountain biking.
This custom build was built for a young rider stepping up from their kids' bike. It pairs a 27.5in front wheel with a 26in rear, laced to Reverse Components Black ONE silver rims, and finished with an orange and black KMC chain, paying homage to the Mini Beast bike the customer grew up riding.
The Welsh brand’s engineers say the geometry remains largely unchanged from the standard mullet setup.

A 29er Fox 40 Factory fork maintains the same axle-to-crown height, preserving the head angle, while the 27.5in front wheel keeps the reach figures consistent.
The main change comes at the bottom bracket, which sits around 17mm lower than standard. Atherton recommends 155mm cranks to compensate, although this particular build is running the standard 165mm cranks.

The result is a scaled-down shred sled built with progression in mind.
