BBB Cycling has entered the fast-growing electric mini pump market with the BarBank, a 160g compact unit that the Dutch brand claims can recharge fully in 30 minutes and inflate three tyres on a single charge.
Electric mini pumps have become one of cycling's most popular accessories of recent times, pushing our very own Warren Rossiter to declare the death of the manual mini pump.
Designed to fit into a jersey pocket or saddlebag with a size just shy of a credit card, the BarBank features an LCD display showing battery level and tyre pressure in either BAR or PSI, with riders able to adjust their target pressure using simple +/- controls.
BBB says the pump's universal head works with Presta, Schrader, Dunlop and the brand's own CoreCap valves – which are intended to improve airflow compared to a standard valve head – without requiring separate adaptors.
Three preset inflation modes (road, gravel and MTB) are designed for different riding disciplines. According to BBB, each mode is capable of delivering three complete inflations from a single battery charge:
- Road: 700x28c tyre from 0-5 BAR (72.5psi)
- Gravel: 700x40c tyre from 0-3 BAR (43.5psi)
- MTB: 29x2.35in tyre from 0-2 BAR (29psi)
These presets can also be customised, enabling riders to save their preferred pressures, potentially yielding another effective inflation.
BBB says the BarBank is capable of producing up to 8.25 BAR (120psi) on one inflation – we can’t think of a scenario in 2026 where this would be desirable, but it’s a sign of the strength of the motor-driven compressor inside the unit.
A common side effect of this is heat production. My initial testing revealed the body heats up with use fairly quickly, but I’ll soon hand it over to Warren to find out how it compares to others.
A flexible hose is also included to make inflation easier, and to protect TPU inner tubes with plastic valve stems by creating a barrier between the pump and the temperature-sensitive TPU material.
One feature that stands out is the integrated LED torch. While unlikely to see frequent use on day-lit rides, it could prove useful for those forced into fixing punctures after dark.
Power comes from a 7.4V, 600mAh battery, and BBB says a full recharge takes around 30 minutes via USB-C (a cable for which isn’t included in the box).
