The Ursus Arya G isn’t any new wheelset – it could be among the most adaptable road and gravel wheelsets available today.
The wheels use the new Sapim RC-1 PBO spokes, which are said to help filter out road buzz and bumps when ridden on more extreme terrain, but still generate the stiffness and responsiveness you need on tarmac.
Accordingly, you might have noticed the Arya G made its competitive debut with Team Picnic PostNL at Paris-Roubaix, arguably the toughest of all races, defined by continual vibrations, impacts and surface changes.
Hero ingredient: the Sapim RC-1 PBO spokes

Rather than treating spokes as a simple component that holds the wheel together under ‘passive’ tension, Ursus says the Sapim RC-1 PBO spokes are designed to help the wheels respond dynamically under load, especially when the terrain becomes inconsistent for sustained periods.
The RC-1 PBO spokes are built from 16,000 para-phenylene benzobisoxazole (PBO) fibre filaments, enclosed in a protective outer layer designed to resist UV exposure and minor impact damage.

PBO, also known in the textiles industry by its brand name, Zylon, isn’t carbon in the traditional sense, yet it is claimed to offer similar levels of stiffness (and greater strength than Kevlar) while filtering out much of the harshness that can be felt over rough surfaces.
Ursus claims the Arya G50, pictured, reduces vibrations by 79.67% on asphalt and uneven surfaces compared to its Proxima R 50 mid-range carbon road wheel.

Ursus says the wheel has been constructed to make the most of the new spoke material, featuring a ‘Y-star’ 2:1 lacing pattern (at the rear) to connect the rim to the U-GD60 hubset.
In practice, Ursus says the Arya G can help reduce the extremes you feel when moving from smooth tarmac to broken surfaces – bringing less harshness, more handling predictability and a more consistent response when accelerating or holding speed under sustained vibration.

It says most wheelsets, which are optimised for smooth surfaces, gradually become less composed as road quality deteriorates. Riders feel that shift as increasing harshness or instability.
Instead, Ursus claims the Arya G wheelset manages energy moving through the wheel, so that behaviour remains more uniform across those conditions.
Ursus Arya G50 build and specification

The Ursus Arya G rim is made of carbon, with a mini-hook design – this means you can run it with clincher tyres, as well as tubeless.
The wheels have a modern 25mm internal width and 31mm external width, which Ursus says is designed to balance aerodynamic performance with stable tyre support for wider road and gravel tyres.

Each wheelset is claimed to weigh 1,340g, with a +/- 40g tolerance. We weighed our set at 1,355g (625g front, 730g rear), including tubeless rim tape.
The Arya G50 is on sale now for €2,500.
