The UK’s hill climb season is defined by bikes and tech pushed to the limit of lightness, as riders look to save every possible gram for the short and brutal races.
The season culminates in the National Hill Climb Championships. This year’s championships, held on 26 October on Bank Road in Matlock, Derbyshire, had no shortage of stunning lightweight tech, sketchy weight-saving hacks and carbon.
Harry MacFaralane won the men’s race with a time of 2 minutes 14.7 seconds to retain his title for the second year in a row, while Rachel Galler won the women’s race with a time of 2 min 59.8 seconds.
In this video, Jack Luke takes a look at the coolest, weirdest and most wonderful tech from the day, including Simon Warren’s Monoc track bike and Jonathan Allen’s Focus Izalco Max with hacked eTap shifters.
