YT's Capra gets fresh updates for 2019

New colours, specs and sizes for the popular enduro bike

The YT Capra has become a stalwart of performance for weekend warriors, racers and every sort of rider in-between thanks to its relatively low prices, impressive performance and a whole host of different models to choose from.

In 2018, YT launched the latest revision of its Capra with the rather off-the-wall short horror film below. For 2019, YT has updated the specs and introduced new colours and sizes for the ever-popular enduro machine. Read our first ride review of the 2018 bike here.

Bike launch or horror film?

The Capra range includes both 27.5- and 29-inch wheeled versions.

There are two frame options — carbon and aluminium — with two builds available in each frame material and two wheel size options across the whole range.

All the 29er bikes have 160mm travel front and back, 170mm travel front and back for the 27.5, except for the CF Pro Race that sees travel hiked up to 170mm for the 29er and 180mm for the 27.5 wheeled version.

The 27.5-inch wheel versions of the Capra are available from sizes S to XXL, while the 29er version comes in M to XXL: good news for tall riders, not so good for those on the smaller end of the height spectrum if you're after a 29er.

Alex has been riding bikes since he was knee-high to a grasshopper. He first raced back in 2003, winning the Juvenile category on a sketchy hard tail Planet X bike. Alex lived in the Alps for seven years so isn't shy of a climb or two and loves getting out in his bike in all weather. His favorite thing to ride is steep loamy tracks with loads of opportunities to slam the bike into turns and really give it some frame bending welly! He's broken his fair share of frames, so any bike between his knees is going to get a right seeing to.
  • Discipline: DH, Enduro, XC, BMX, Road
  • Preferred Terrain: Epic descents covered in the world's finest loam and hero dirt
  • Current Bikes: Nukeproof Mega 275 / Giant Anthem Advanced 275 1 / LeMond Reno / Deluxe Pro 2 BMX
