Voodoo has updated the Bizango Carbon for 2023, with two new spec options in the range.

The Bizango is available with either an aluminium or carbon fibre frame and, in our experience, is one of the best hardtail mountain bikes out there for value.

The Halfords house brand updated the aluminium Bizango last year, to match the longer, slacker geometry of the carbon version. The result? A rare five-star rating in our 2022 Voodoo Bizango review.

Now Voodoo has refreshed the carbon option and, while the geometry remains unchanged, tyre clearance has increased and specs have been refreshed.

The updated Bizango has 120mm of travel, with the regular Carbon model sporting a RockShox Judy Silver TK fork and the Carbon Pro getting an upgraded RockShox SID Select fork.

The Bizango Carbon has a retail price of £1,200, while the Bizango Carbon Pro costs £1,650.

The two models will be available from UK retailer Halfords from Wednesday 5 October.

While the two new models use the same geometry as the Voodoo Bizango Carbon we reviewed in 2020, the frame now has clearance for tyres up to 2.35in wide, up from 2.25in.

Otherwise, much has remained the same, as far as the frame is concerned, but Voodoo has brought the specs up-to-date.

Alongside its 120mm-travel RockShox SID Select fork, the £1,650 Bizango Carbon Pro has a 12-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain.

Costing £450 less, the Bizango Carbon has a RockShox Judy Silver TK fork and 1x11 Shimano Deore drivetrain.

Both bikes sport a Maxxis Forecaster EXO TR 2.35in tyre at the front, and Maxxis Rekon EXO TR 2.25in tyre at the rear. They both also have WTB Volt saddles.

Voodoo says the wheels have an internal rim width of 30mm and can be set up tubeless.

The Voodoo Bizango Carbon has a claimed weight of 13kg and the Bizango Carbon Pro has a claimed weight of 12.4kg.

Proven geometry

The 2023 Bizango Carbon's geometry remains unchanged, with the frame receiving an overhaul last time round, with a geometry which then filtered down to the aluminium model.

Voodoo says the Carbon Pro and Carbon are designed and specced to suit UK riders and conditions, an approach it takes with all its models.

Alongside component choice, Voodoo says the main way it does this is with “carefully considered geometry”.

The Bizango Carbon has a head angle of 66.5 degrees and a seat angle of 73 degrees. These numbers aren't as extreme as some of the most progressive hardtails, but they should make the Bizango Carbon and Carbon Pro suitable for trail centre riding.
