Footwear brand Hoka has teamed up with MAAP to release a limited-edition version of its Tecton X2 trainer.
Available in a 'limeade' colourway, the shoe combines the carbon-plate Tecton X2 sole with detailing inspired by MAAP’s cycling kit.
This goes as far as “hot melt overlays and splatter details”, which are said to pay “homage to MAAP’s instantly recognisable aesthetic".
Why have MAAP and Hoka teamed up?

MAAP and Hoka say their partnership is intended to highlight the technical innovation of endurance sportswear “while seamlessly transitioning into everyday streetwear”.
Misha Glisovic, MAAP’s chief creative officer, says: “We’re seeing more and more crossover between fashion and endurance sports, and that speaks to a broader desire to get outside and incorporate movement into our everyday lives.”
Glisovic says MAAP and Hoka share an approach of making kit that prioritises performance while “creating a ripple effect” beyond sport.
Hoka’s Thomas Cykana says: “Our teams have come together as genuinely like-minded groups who appreciate the combined art and science that fuels running and cycling in the modern marketplace.”

If you’ve followed MAAP in recent years, this mission of uniting athletics with lifestyle products will come as little surprise.
Since 2021, the Australian brand has teamed up with Perks and Mini, a streetwear and lifestyle brand, to create capsule collections.
MAAP has also collaborated with New York-based outerwear brand The Arrivals, and New Era.
Of course, MAAP is not alone in working with other fashion and sports brands. Rapha has collaborated with Palace several times for the EF Education-EasyPost kit, while Pas Normal Studios has an ongoing series of collaborations with Japanese bag company Porter-Yoshida & Co.
There was also the outrageous Castelli x Supreme SpongeBob SquarePants kit released in February this year.
