Orbea has unveiled its new Terra gravel bike, with more tyre clearance, compliance and mountings – but a lighter weight than the previous incarnation.
The new Terra frameset is a complete redesign of the Terra. The geometry has been refined to bring greater comfort and control to this new adventure-ready, rugged gravel bike.
That means a longer reach, combined with shorter stems across all sizes. According to Orbea, this brings quick, confident handling, while a longer wheelbase improves stability – both on rougher surfaces and when the bikes are loaded up for bikepacking.

The new fork has a cut-out profile in its top third to improve compliance, while Orbea has introduced size-specific fork trails to ensure the same handling character on sizes XS to XXL.

The new frame construction saves 90g over the previous model, bringing the frame weight to a claimed 1,040g on a painted size-medium frame.
Orbea claims it has not only improved the compliance and comfort of the frame and fork, but also improved the head tube and drivetrain stiffness, bringing the measured stiffness to 100Nm, up from 95Nm on the previous design.

Geometry that's ready for adventure

Tyre clearance has been upped to 50mm, with a generous 6mm of clearance around the tyre, both front and rear.
The bike can also be equipped with custom fenders/mudguards from Orbea’s OC component line, which reduces tyre clearance to 45mm.
Orbea has made the seat tube much shorter than on the previous Terra, too, with more standover clearance and a much more exposed seatpost, again to aid comfort.
The 27.2mm seatpost diameter means compatibility with gravel dropper posts, and with a simple external seat clamp, there are no issues with an internal clamp obstructing dropper routing.
Meanwhile, the fork gets size-specific offsets to make the handling consistent across the sizes. The head angle is relaxed to between 69 and 71 degrees, whilst the seat angle is steepened to 74 degrees.
Longer 430mm chainstays help to lengthen the wheelbase, aiding stability. Standover height is decreased and the bottom bracket drop is now 80mm to account for the increase in tyre clearance.

The new frame and fork are built from Orbea’s OMR carbon, and Orbea has used a layup it says aids in filtering out trail buzz and chatter.
Other comfort-enhancing features include a compact rear triangle with flattened seatstays and flattened sections in the chainstays.
Expected updates such as the increased tyre clearance and a UDH-compatible rear dropout bring the new Terra in line with current gravel bike design trends.
Carry-on luggage

The new frame and fork have increased carrying capacity, too. The Terra now gets securing points on the seat tube, top tube, down tube and fork legs. It also gets integrated fender mounts front and rear.
The LOCKR down tube storage has also seen a significant makeover, with the new LOCKR XXL design providing 35% more storage capacity than before.
Built your way

Orbea’s long-standing MyO online ordering system has been put into full effect on the new Terra. Lots more options are available than before.
The cockpit can now be had with a new aerodynamic integrated option for racier riders, with widths from 36cm to 44cm and stem options from 80mm to 130mm.
Alternatively, you can opt for OC Components' 12-degree flared gravel bar, with or without a 15mm rise. There is also a new HB-GR10 carbon gravel bar engineered to dampen vibrations.
You can choose from the full range of Oquo wheels, including the new RP50LTD TD gravel race wheelset.

The Terra comes in three stock colours: Caramel Carbon View/Acid Gum; Fantasy Purple/Carbon View and Nickel/Met Cinnamon.
If none of those takes your fancy, the MyO ordering system means you can custom-spec your own paint, graphics and many of the specifics – including tyres, saddles, crank lengths and accessories.
