MAAP has joined forces with the ‘sports culture’ platform Mental Athletic to release a capsule collection that explores cycling’s new “unprecedented” era.
The collection includes MAAP’s Pro Air 3.0 jersey in short and long sleeves, the Team Bib Evo Cargo bib shorts, a Mesh Short Sleeve Tee and a new lightweight vest.
MAAP and Mental Athletic have also collaborated on “off-bike apparel”, offering a range of T-shirts, hoodies, caps, socks and accessories.
“The collaboration explores and propels the unprecedented new era cycling is now entering, taking an active part in a shift in the way the bike is seen, worn and understood,” MAAP says.
“It pushes back against a world built for seamlessness, with its algorithmic palettes, frictionless identities and quiet flattening of everything into something instantly legible. Performance gets a wider definition here. Physical commitment, image, attitude and experimentation share the same road.”
The collection will be available online and in MAAP’s LaB stores from 15 October.
The collaboration comes hot on the heels of the Melbourne-based brand opening its eleventh store in London last Saturday.
Mental Athletic is an Italian magazine that looks at the crossover between sport, fashion and lifestyle. It recently collaborated with Standert to release a limited-edition Pfadfinder.
