Following the launch of the premium-priced flagship endurance bike the Dogma X, Pinarello has unveiled its new X Series range, starting at a much more attainable £3,150 / $2,950 / €3,200.
The second-generation X Series is based on the Dogma X, taking design inspiration from the £11,000+ endurance superbike and sharing the same geometry.
Pinarello president Fausto Pinarello says: "The all-new X Series represents a significant step forward for Pinarello’s endurance collection. We wanted to focus on what real-world cyclists actually need during long rides on everyday road surfaces – unmatched comfort and vibration absorption without losing any performance.”
Pinarello X Series frame details

The signature X-Stays, with the same lower attachment points, are designed to better dissipate road vibrations than the original X models, according to Pinarello.
The new X Series comes in three different constructions across the range. The top-tier X9 and X7 frames use a high proportion of Torayca T900 fibres, which are lighter and stiffer than the lower-tier models. However, according to Pinarello, T900 offers the ideal balance between weight and vibration absorption.
The next two models, the X5 and X3, use T700 carbon, which is slightly heavier but much more compliant. The entry to the X range, the X1, uses T600, prioritising compliance.

Up front, the frames of all but the X1 model have a new elliptical steering tube. This allows for fully internal brake hose routing.
Pinarello claims the new head tube and steerer design improves torsional stiffness significantly, bringing more confident handling and improved stability when descending or riding on rougher surfaces.

Also helping with the ride quality is an increased 40mm tyre clearance.
Alongside the frame's vibration-damping qualities, a new ‘adaptive’ seatpost delivers 10mm of longitudinal flex, much like Canyon’s highly regarded VCLS post.

In-frame storage

In a break from the Dogma X, the X Series frameset gains an integrated storage post in the down tube. The port contains a custom compact tool bag with space to carry a multi-tool, tyre levers and a spare tube.
