Lance Armstrong met French president Nicolas Sarkozy last night and handed him a new Trek Madone bike emblazoned with the French tricolour and rooster emblem plus the logo of his Livestrong charity.
The seven-time Tour de France winner wrote on his Twitter page that he'd had a "Gr8 meeting w/ President Sarkozy" in Paris, along with his girlfriend Anna Hansen, Team RadioShack sporting director Johan Bruyneel and French TV personality Michel Drucker.
Under a photo of the bike, which also sports Sarkozy's signature, Armstrong added: "He loves the sport of cycling." The gift comes a day after the French president suffered a heavy defeat in regional elections.
