Gee, Dan and Rachel Atherton are set to part company with Commencal for the 2012 season, Max Commencal has confirmed.
The move will end a five-year association with the Andorran brand. The new was announced by Mr Commencal in an interview with French magazine VeloVert, where he said: "They had the opportunity to go into a large structure, which is perfectly understandable."
The identity of this large team hasn't been confirmed, but rumours have been circulating that they're heading to GT. We contacted Atherton Racing for a comment on the story but haven't heard back. We'll be sure to keep you updated on any developments.
