Italian clothier Castelli continues to redefine what cycling clothing can be. For this winter and next year, the foul-weather Tempesta line has expanded, a new Perfetto range pops up for iffy conditions, and, for the first time, Castelli has a line of luggage.

Tempesta

After testing the Tempesta Race Jacket in rainy Flanders and elsewhere, we have a generally very positive review of the breathable waterproof jacket here. Now, Castelli has expanded this Tempesta line and the impressive eVent fabric into other pieces.

The Tempesta 3/4 Pant is designed to wear over your bib tights. At a claimed 122g, the 3/4 Pant is quite packable, and uses the same waterproof yet breathable eVent fabric found in the Tempesta Jacket.

The tempesta 3/4 pants are designed for days when your primary concern is staying dry(ish) and warm: the tempesta 3/4 pants are designed for days when your primary concern is staying dry(ish) and warm

Castelli also has a Tempesta Cap, which channels Sherlock Holmes in its double-bill look, the aim of which is to keep water rolling down over one's jacket instead of onto the neck.

The tempesta cap offers a sherlock holmes rear to channel rain off the helmet and down onto the jacket - not onto the neck: the tempesta cap offers a sherlock holmes rear to channel rain off the helmet and down onto the jacket - not onto the neck

Perfetto

The not-yet-released Perfetto line sits under Castelli's famous Gabba gear that is made for going hard in cold, wet weather. Perfetto uses Gore's WindStopper fabric and is water repellant but not waterproof.

The Perfetto Light short sleeve jersey functions like a jersey and vest, with chest protection.

While the gabba line is designed for horrible weather, the perfetto lite here is more for cool days with a chance of rain : while the gabba line is designed for horrible weather, the perfetto lite here is more for cool days with a chance of rain

The 120 Perfetto NanoLight Bib Short is water repellent but is not fleece-lined.

US, UK and AU pricing was not immediately available.

Castelli Luggage

New for this winter, Castelli is now selling branded bags, from saddle bags to duffels to rolling luggage. While the black travel luggage with the red scorpion looks nice enough, the most interesting piece for riders is probably the Race Rain Bag. WorldTour race fans have probably seen this gear bag in the back of team cars. The easily compactable bag has a lower pouch for shoes and a compartmentalized main area for clothing. While amateur riders won't being handing this bag off to soigneurs in a follow car, it is a handy bag for carrying gear to races.

Castelli also has a new range of luggage, including the formerly pro-issue-only rain bag at right: castelli also has a new range of luggage, including the formerly pro-issue-only rain bag at right
