Perth-based camera light combo experts Cycliq has just announced the latest version of its video recording head and tail lights, the Fly6 CE tail light and Fly12 CE head light.

Beyond aesthetic improvements to the lights, the Connected Editions (hence the CE in the name) allow for Garmin compatibility via ANT+ as well as Bluetooth connectivity to the Cycliq Plus app. With this, a rider can utilize the Fly lights functions from their head unit or the app giving the rider easy access to a number of device settings.
Both of the updated lights are more compact and lighter than their predecessors with the new Fly12 CE head light claimed to weigh 195g and the new Fly6 CE tail light said to tip the scales at 110g — the previous models weigh 240g and 124g respectively.
The cameras on both units have been improved with a new wider angle lens which boosts the field of view to 135-degrees, up from the previous 100 degrees. Both units still utilize HD looping video with audio and automatic incident footage preservation, but the new units also move closer to the realm of action cameras now filming six-axis stabilized 1080p HD video at 60fps.
Both lights are brighter and last longer too with claimed outputs of 600 lumens and up to eight hours of battery life for the Fly12 CE and 100 lumens and up to seven hours of battery life for the Fly6 CE. Both are claimed to have a two-hour recharge time.
The light camera combos also get the ‘HomeSafe’ mode where if the battery gets down to five percent the camera cuts out to extend the life of the battery. According to Cycliq, the light will continue to work for up to 1.5 hours after the camera turns off.
Initially introduced with the original Fly12, the new CE lights also feature a built-in bike alarm. When armed if the light detects any movement it will flash and make a racket all while recording video and triggering an alert on your phone to let you know somebody is messing with your bike.
Alongside the new lights, Cycliq will be releasing a range of new mounting solutions including Duo Mount and Telescopic mount. According to Cycliq these new mounts feature the ⅛ turn Quick Release Mounting System, making it secure and quick to clip the devices on and off the bike.

Set to hit stores 30 November, consumers can register their interest for the new Fly CE lights.
Pricing is set to be £255 / $279 / AU$399 / €289 for the Fly12 CE and £169 / $179 / AU$259 / €179 for the Fly6 CE.
