The 2011 sportive season may be drawing to a close but that hasn’t stopped organisers getting a head start for next year. The guys behind the Dartmoor Classic, Mid-Devon CC, are opening registration for next summer’s event this Saturday – and they warn that it's always oversubscribed.

The 2012 Dartmoor Classic will use the same routes as this year, with a choice of 106-mile (170km) and 65-mile (104km) challenges, both of which start and finish in the Devon town of Kingsteignton. The routes include 3,400 and 2,500m of climbing, respectively.

The event on Sunday 24 June will form part of a two-day festival of cycling that includes trade exhibitors, family attractions, live music and on-site catering. Entry for 2012 remains unchanged at £27 for either of the two distances. Full details can be found at www.dartmoorclassic.co.uk.
