Felt have announced a voluntary recall of over 2,000 time trial/triathlon bikes after reports of forks breaking. Affected models are the 2009 B16, S32 and (in the US and Canada only) B12.

Owners of any of these bikes, which were sold between October 2008 and May 2010, are asked to stop using them immediately and contact their local Felt dealer for a free inspection and repair.

Felt have received seven reports of broken steerer tubes in the US; no incidents have been reported in the UK. One of the breakages caused a rider to crash and suffer minor injuries.

The recalled bikes are:

  • 2009 B12: Gloss silver/carbon coloured carbon fibre frame, carbon fibre fork with aluminium steerer tube (US and Canada only – UK model has different fork)
  • 2009 B16: Matt black/red, carbon fibre frame, carbon fibre fork with aluminium steerer tube.
  • 2009 S32: Gloss white/red, aluminum frame, carbon fibre fork with aluminium steerer tube.

No 2010 bikes are affected. For more information, call Felt Bicycles in the USA on (866) 433-5887 or UK distributors Saddleback on 01454 299965. Alternatively, visit www.feltracing.com.
