Rather than being a type of gateau, the Focus Black Forest 3.0 is actually a hardtail 29er with a Shimano drivetrain and a price of £949.99/ $1,599.99 – not as tasty as its namesake of a dessert, but much more fun.
As you can see, it's an aluminium-framed hardtail with 29in wheels. Its 30 gears are an all-Shimano affair thanks to a 3x10 drivetrain consisting of a Shimano crankset and mechs (XT rear, SLX front) and an 11-36T cassette controlled by Deore shifters.
Braking is handled by Avid's Elixir 1 hydraulic disc package, and suspension duties fall to a RockShox XC32 fork with 100mm of travel.
Focus' house brand, Concept, provide the bar and stem as well as the wheels and hubs, which connect to the trail through a set of Continental Race King tyres. The saddle and seatpost are also from Concept.
