GT Bicycles has issued a recall for all 2014 GT Fury Team and Fury Expert downhill mountain bikes.

The OE (original equipment) hubs on these models can break, causing the disc brake rotor to separate from the hub. This could lead to an accident resulting in serious injury or death. Both the front and rear wheel hubs were manufactured incorrectly. This recall does not apply to any other part of these bicycles.

Owners of affected models should stop using the bicycles immediately and return them to the nearest authorized GT dealer to have the front and rear wheels replaced, free of charge.

About 120 of the bikes were sold in the US, and 32 in Canada, between February and June for between US$4,300 and US$6,000. GT received five reports of broken hubs.
