Lapierre has announced a voluntary recall on some of its Zesty AM and Spicy all-mountain and enduro mountain bikes.

The recall concerns only the alloy versions of these two models from model years 2020 and 2021.

The affected models are as follows:

  • Zesty AM 3.0
  • Zesty AM 4.0
  • Zesty AM 4.9
  • Zesty AM 5.9
  • Spicy 3.0
  • Spicy 4.9

The brand says it has 16 reported cases of down tube failures with no reported injuries. Production and delivery of the affected models has been suspended as a precautionary measure.

If you own one of these models, you can check if you are affected by reading the serial number on the underside of the bottom bracket. If the serial number starts LPA3 or LPB3, then your frame is affected.

Lapierre recommends you immediately stop riding the bike and to contact your place of purchase. They can then initiate the warranty process for a replacement frame.

Only Lapierre dealers are authorised to conduct the frame replacement.

If you are not located near a Lapierre reseller, the brand recommends you either contact its customer help desk on 0800 1946 2121 or browse the company’s dealer network.

The full text of the recall is below:

Dear customers,

Because the safety of our users is our priority, Lapierre Teams are organizing a voluntary recall of Spicy and Zesty AM mountain bikes with aluminum frames.

These models can present a risk of weakness in the down tube of the frame, which can lead to sagging and breakage of the frame.

This voluntary recall affects the following model year 2020 and 2021 bikes: Spicy 3.0, Spicy 4.9, Zesty AM 3.0, Zesty AM 4.0, Zesty AM 4.9 and Zesty AM 5.9.

We ask all customers to stop using their bike and to contact an authorized Lapierre dealer who will replace the frame as soon as possible.

We thank you for your understanding and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this replacement may cause in your practice.

Lapierre Teams.
