Bicycle-rail commuters in the UK city of Leeds have a new cycling facility at their disposal: Leeds CyclePoint, which opened on August 18.

The facility is based on a Dutch concept and is designed to give commuters somewhere to safely park their bikes and if they want, get them serviced while they're at work. 300 parking spaces are available as well as a limited number of hire bikes, bike and accessory sales, and general information about cycling.

CyclePoint been set up by Northern Rail and Abellio and will be run by Evans Cycles. It's the first of its kind in the UK and will be run as a pilot project until its official launch on 27 September. More CyclePoints may be rolled out, depending on the success of the Leeds one.

The parking facility is free until 27 September. Thereafter it will cost £1 per day/11 day tickets for £10/£15 per month/£120 per year.
