Judder no more

Kinesis have just unveiled a lightweight full monocoque cyclocross RC09 fork which Kinesis say offers powerful, judder-free braking.

Costing £249.99 and weighing in at a claimed 460g, the fork uses a leading edge blade shape, forged alloy hanger (£9.99) which bolts to a specially shaped crown, eliminating the need for a steerer mounted hanger.

Why do this? You may ask. Well, firstly there’s no need for a long drop of inner cable between the top of the headset and straddle cable, reducing the flex in the fork caused by braking – which causes judder under certain circumstances (on hard surfaces with large frames/riders).

Secondly, it allows for a lower stack height, making the race easier on short stretches of hard climbing.
