Fulcrum are bringing out a new mountain bike wheelset called Red Heat. It joins their highly-rated Red Fire on the downhill/freeride side of things but, unlike those hoops, is designed to be used with standard (clincher) tyres rather than a tubeless setup.
The new wheels, which were launched yesterday at the Taipei International Cycle Show in Taiwan, look similar to the Red Fires, but with slightly narrower rims (22mm rather than 23mm) and new oversize alloy hubs.
They have a more subdued colour scheme than the Fires' blood-red finish – black with red graphics. Features include through-axles front (20mm/110mm) and rear (12mm/150mm), 32 variable section stainless steel spokes on each wheel, and six-bolt disc rotor mounts.
There's no word yet on pricing or availability. Claimed weight is the same as the Red Fires at 2,200g a pair. Fulcrum say: "Red Heat was designed to be solid and strong, ready to face any obstacle and land with no problems after any jump."
