First launched in late June, 2015, the Giant TCR received a long awaited update for 2016. Giant Bicycles US has released details of its full range online, with the UK and Australia set to follow in coming weeks.
While the Defy, Propel and TCX have remained mostly unchanged, barring new paint, new saddles and new wheels, the TCR has been rebuilt from the ground up.

Though the new TCR may look similar to previous versions, Giant claims the updated frame is both lighter and stiffer. The top end Advanced SL frame has a claimed weight of 856g.
For 2016 there will be three frames in the range (Advanced SL, Advanced Pro and Advanced), with each offering varying components and prices. While each frame shares the same overall design, it’s the quality and thickness of the carbon that dictates the price differences. Surprisingly, there is no alloy TCR in the 2016 lineup.
Each of the new frames feature Giant’s MegaDrive down tube, 86.5mm press-fit PowerCore bottom bracket shell, and asymmetric chainstays. The new TCR also employs a progressively changing geometry, meaning that the bike, no matter the size, should retain the same ride characteristics.

Made from a slightly lower grade carbon, the Advanced Pro and Advanced frames also receive a new lighter and stiffer fork
The top end Advanced SL frame features hollow carbon dropouts and an integrated seatpost, and accepts both mechanical and electronic drivetrains. The Advanced Pro and Advanced models get a new fork, which Giant claims is stiffer, 39g lighter and features the OverDrive 2 steerer tube (OD2).
