A new mountain bike enduro event is set to take in some of the UK's best singletrack in the shadow of KielderCastle on the Scottish Borders.

Kielder Calling, being held at Kielder Water and Forest Park in Northumberland on 14 August, is open to teams of up to four, pairs and solo riders, with a choice of three-, six- and 12-hour challenges.

The six-mile course will incorporate some of KielderForest's popular waymarked trails but will also take riders into new territory.

In addition to the enduro, there'll be a chance to do hot laps on the trails and demo bikes from Yeti, Commencal, Kona and Islabikes, plus an expo area with the latest gear and an obstacle course for younger riders. There'll be plenty to eat and drink, plus a live band and celidah in the evening, with a bar and hog roast.

Victoria Griffin, director of organisers Purple Mountain, said: "We're excited to be part of the Kielder Calling. There's something for everyone and it promises to be an action packed and fun weekend."
