Frames and components from US-based Canfield Brothers are now available in the UK through Progressive Bikes, who also distribute Chumba and Brodie.

Set up 10 years ago by downhill racers Chris and Lance Canfield, the company specialise in making products for the big-hit end of the mountain bike market.

The two key bikes in their line-up are the Jedi and the ONE, both of which feature their 'Parallel Suspension' design. The former is aimed at downhillers and big mountain freeriders, with 7.75in travel (vertical, plus 2.5in rearward) and a claimed frame weight of 10.5lb with an Elka Stage 5 shock.

The ONE is aimed more at the all-mountain and enduro brigade, but sports a massive 8in of rear travel. At 7.1lb with Marzocchi Roco World Cup Air shock, it can be built into a sub-30lb trail slayer. UK prices and specs are still to be confirmed.

On the component side of things, the new Crampon pedals look interesting. They're said to be the thinnest on the market, at just 6mm thick. Bodies are aluminium, with steel axles running on DU bushings and sealed bearings. Available in colours including light blue, gold, grey and black, they cost £125 (US$150) and are due to ship in a few weeks' time. Claimed weight is 395g a pair.
