Wales is to get its own gravity race series for the first time since the abrupt end of Dragon Downhill in 2008.
The new Juice Lubes/O'Neal Welsh Downhill Series is being organised by Borderline Events – the people behind the Descent-Gear races at Moelfre and Scotland's Alpine Bikes Winter Series – and the WDMBA (Welsh Downhill Mountain Bike Association).
Four venues have been confirmed – Llangollen, Mynydd Du, Rheola and Moelfre – with a fifth round at either Gethin, Mountain Ash or an as yet undisclosed venue.
Organiser Mike Marsden told BikeRadar: "We're trying to have a Welsh series, not just a South Wales series, and use tracks where everybody is welcome. Some events are very cliquey if you aren't quick, but that's certainly not going to be the case at any of our events. We want everybody to be able to have a go, not just the elite racers, and we want to make it enjoyable to race, even if you've never done it before."
Entries open in mid-January. All details can be found at www.borderline-events.co.uk. As well as the racing, the plan is to hold uplift days at Llangollen and Moelfre.

- 1-2 May 2010: Llangollen, Denbighshire (Welsh Champs)
- 29-30 May: Mynydd Du, Clwyd
- 28-29 August: Rheola, West Glamorgan
- 18-19 September: Gethin, Merthyr Tydfil? (Final decision on venue to be made)
- 9-10 October: Moelfre Hall, Shropshire
