The tubeless specialists at NoTubes have launched two carbon wheelsets aimed at cross-country racers and trail riders.
Crest CB7
The Crest CB7 carbon rims have a claimed weight of just 325g. The internal width of 23mm is intended to be paired with 2-2.5in cross-country tires. While this rim has the same internal dimensions as the ultra-light Podium SRD, it’s built with thicker walls to be a more versatile wheelset that can be ridden beyond the race course.
The complete 29in wheelset laced to NoTubes’ own Neo hubs with 28 triple-butted Sapim Force spokes has a claimed weight of 1,452g.
Pricing is set at $1,399 / £1,050 for the Crest CB7 wheelset and $600 / £450 per rim.
Arch CB7
The Arch CB7 slots in between the Bravo enduro wheelset and the Crest CB7 as the company’s trail offering.
This new carbon rim has an internal width of 26mm, which pairs well with 2.25-2.5in tires. The claimed weights for the complete wheelsets with NoTubes’ Neo hubs and double-butted Sapim Race spokes are 1,720g for the 27.5in version and 1,794g for the 29in model.
Pricing is set at $1,399 / £1,050 for the complete wheelset and $600 / £450 per rim.
Shared features
Both of these new carbon rims feature what NoTubes calls “RiACT Design,” which refers to radial flex built into these rims to improve impact resistance and reduce the risk of pinch flats by allowing for up to 10mm of vertical deflection.
The Crest CB7 and Arch CB7 are available in 28- and 32-hole drillings in all standard axle configurations, with Shimano or XD freehubs, and Centerlock and 6-bolt brake standards.
Crest CB7 and Arch CB7 rims and wheelsets will be available in February.
