On-One has just released the details of its latest creation, the Codeine, a 29er trail bike that the company claims to be “The best mountain bike we’ve ever made.”

The Codeine has 130mm of rear suspension travel and is built around 140mm travel suspension forks.

As is becoming the norm with some longer-travel 29ers such as the Niner WF0 9, the Codeine sacrifices front derailleur compatibility in order to achieve short chainstays and ample tire clearance. Chainstay length is a very respectable 440mm / 17.3in, while still leaving room for meaty 2.4in-wide tires.

The Codeine has a low bottom bracket, a climb-friendly 74-degree seat tube angle and a slack 67.5-degree head tube angle.

The frame is constructed from 7005-T6 aluminum tubing. On-One claims the weight for the frame with shock is sub-7lb.

The Codeine will be available this May. It will be offered as a frame with Cane Creek DB Air shock for £799.99 / US$1,325 as well as a complete bike equipped with a SRAM X01 group, RockShox Pike fork and Reverb seatpost, and a Cane Creek DB Air shock for £2,499.99 / US$4,150.
