The new Revolution Series season begins this weekend with Laura Trott taking on Marianne Vos. There will also be a Team Sky versus Orica-GreenEDGE battle, so the first round is set to be a special contest.
The first round of the popular track racing series will be held at Lee Valley VeloPark in London, where newly-crowned European Track Champion and Double Olympic Track Champion Laura Trott will go head-to-head with Olympic Road Champion Marianne Vos for the first time on the track.
Trott said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back onto the track in London and kick-starting my season – hopefully with a win in front of a home crowd. It’ll be interesting to test myself against someone as talented as Marianne Vos. I’m hoping to have the edge on the track even though I’m sure she’ll push me all the way.”
The men’s racing will see Ben Swift and Ian Stannard (Team Sky) take on Ed Clancy, Adam Blythe and Alex Dowsett, as well as Orica-GreenEDGE’s Jens Mouris and Scott Sunderland.
The first round of the Revolution Series will feature 30 events including the British Cycling National Madison Championships on Friday evening and a special version of the Marymoor Crawl on Saturday afternoon – a unique race, which opens with a gruelling track stand contest before riders sprint for victory over a single lap.
Tickets for round one cost from £15 and are available online.
Channel 4 will be showing the new Revolution Series season the following Saturday morning after each event.
