Ten years ago at age 73, Giant Bicycles founder King Liu completed a 15-day, 927km ride around Taiwan. He followed that ride up in 2009 with a 20-day, 1,668km tour through China. Those rides started a tradition at Giant — Ride Like King — and this year the brand is celebrating from 4–6 May with rides around the globe and on Zwift.
King said that those big rides reinvigorated his passion for cycling.
"Many people travel in cars, with high speeds and closed windows,” King said. “But on bikes, people greet each other, building human relationships and gradually shaping a more peaceful society.”

After 44 years leading the business, King retired in 2016 as chairman of the company. But the King is back this weekend for Ride Like King, with Giant events happening around the world and even on Zwift. Giant is promoting Ride Like King with photo contests and a grand prize giveaway of a premium Giant or Liv road bike.
The main event is Friday 4 May at 8:15pm Taipei time with King Liu himself leading the Ride Like King indoor cycling experience on Zwift. This 30-minute event will be structured as a group workout so all riders stay together.
Ten participants in the Zwift Ride Like King event will win a Ride Like King jersey signed by King.
“King Liu's 927km ride around Taiwan at the age of 73 is something that we can all be inspired by,” said Zwift CEO Eric Min. “Zwift is delighted to celebrate the event along with King Liu, uniting a global community of cyclists together for the very first time in one single ride, with the Ride Like King Group Workout. In addition to the jersey giveaway, Zwift participants will also be eligible to win a top-end Giant or Liv road bike, either a Giant Propel Advanced SL Disc 0 or Liv Langma Advanced SL 0.
