We showed you a prototype version of the new Ariel 140mm-travel trail bike from revitalised UK brand Saracen last year, and the production bike looks even better.

It features a revised CNC-machined linkage, which is said to be both lighter and stiffer, a tapered (1.5-1-1/8in) head tube, and Fox suspension front and rear.

The model shown here is the range-topping Ariel 3, with Shimano XT drivetrain, Race Face Evolve chainset and Respond finishing kit, Deore M595 disc brakes, Syncros DS28 rims, Maxxis Larsen TT/High Roller tyres and a Fizik Gobi XM saddle. RRP is £2,599.99.

The lower spec Ariel 2 comes in at £2,099.99 and the basic Ariel 1 at £1,599.99. Designed in Britain and made in Taiwan, delivery of the first production bikes is expected at the beginning of April.

With bikes like this and Shimano distributors Madison at the helm, Saracen look set to regain their position as a brand to be reckoned with. For more details see www.saracen.co.uk.
