Taking the time trial frame used by last year's HTC-Columbia Tour de France team as a base might seem a solid foundation for a new triathlon bike, and Scott have done just that to launch their 2011 Plasma range.

Squarely aimed at the triathlete, the Plasma 3 Premium is made from the same proprietary HMX carbon fibre as Scott's other high-end Plasma and Addict frames.

Details are scant at this stage, but it comes equipped with an exclusive riser stem and tri bars from Profile, cable brakes and shifting (rather than electronic, as on the Plasma TT), and a fore-aft adjustable seat rail clamp atop a carbon seatpost.

The bike is due to be officially launched at the Roth Challenge in Germany next month, so we'll bring you more information as and when we get it.
